Thumbs Up to iOS7

September 27th, 2013 | by: SM SOLD | Posted in : New Technology

Let’s face it- the overall look of iOS has been completely revamped. However, it remains in typical Apple fashion, user-friendly and well designed as before because the core functionality is essentially the same. Yes, it will take a little bit of time getting used to the iOS 7 user interface, but the sound technology advancements will ultimately make your discoveries enjoyable.

Despite early criticism, customers have been downloading iOS 7 faster than any other previous version. In the first 24 hours after Apple released the new version of its mobile operating system, approximately 18 percent of iPhone and iPad users had already upgraded to the new iOS 7 software- according to Chitika Insights. It’s safe to say that this massive wave of early adopters had no reservations when it came to embracing the biggest visual overhaul of iOS that Apple has introduced since the iPhone.

Here are some of SM Sold’s favorite new features:

Control Center: Now serves as a hub for everything you need quick access to including: airplane mode, Wi-Fi, display brightness, calculator, alarm clock, volume, and more.  To access, you’ll simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
Camera: iOS 7 brings filtering and the ability to group your pictures automatically into collections based on date and your location at the time. The redesigned camera app now offers burst mode, which allows you to take multiple shots in quick succession. To activate, simply click, and hold the volume-up button.

Swipe Gesture: By double-clicking the home button, you’ll see all the apps and webpages you’ve recently opened. To close and save on battery life, swipe the image of the app off the screen. You’ll also close Safari tabs the same way, saving you time when you’re deleting multiple tabs. Similarly, when you’re finished reading an email, or tinkering around in your settings, all you have to do to return to the previous page is swipe to the left.
Siri: Not only do you have the choice between male or female voices, but Siri now has a significant increase in brain power. Siri can accept commands to adjust settings, answer Wikipedia questions, respond to twitter commands, and even read your emails.

App-By-App Cell Data Usage: iOS 7 has a built-in settings feature which allows you to keep track of which apps are using up all of your cell plan’s precious megabytes. If you’re nearing the end of the month and you’re running low on data, you can choose to disable specific “data hogs”. If you don’t want to go as far as disabling an app, you can restrict certain apps to Wi-Fi only. Access this feature by tapping into Settings > Cellular, and scrolling to the bottom.

Compass: A quick swipe to the left will reveal a level that will make all of your DIY hanging projects a breeze.
These are only a handful of the compelling upgrades that iOS7 offers Apple users that completely transforms Apple’s mobile operation system. Consider iOS 7 very carefully before you decide to upgrade and see if you can live with the new interface. Like any new major operating software releases, there will be issues to sort through and a definite learning curve.
